ERIC GALES HAILED AS A CHILD PRODIGY.
“NOW ONE OF THE BEST, IF NOT THE BEST
GUITARIST IN THE WORLD TODAY”
- JOE BONAMASSA OCT. 2013

Back to Blues Heaven here...

If star quality was based on your colleagues’ recognition rather than on sales figures, Eric Gales would be a megastar!
The world needed a new Jimi Hendrix, so Eric’s 2 elder brothers soon gave him a guitar. Eric is said to have mastered the instrument already at the age of 4. Eleven years old he won his first guitar competition. He
gained his first record contract with mighty Elektra Records and released his self produced debut album, ‘The Eric Gales Band’, in 1991. That same year he was elected as ‘Best New Talent’ by the prestigious magazine, ‘Guitar World’
In 1994 he appeared on stage with Carlos Santana at Woodstock – not so bad for one not yet turned 20! Since then he has released quite a few albums – 17 altogether – where ‘Middle of the Road’ from 2017 is the latest. Gales writes most of his material himself, often in co-operation with his producer, Mike Varney[CKJ1] .
There exist an impressive number of so-called ‘tribute albums’, not least to Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin – not so surprising since Gales’ expression is mainly someway in between those giants. Many people recommend that you listen to Gales’ version of ‘May this Be Love’ from ‘Power of Soul – a Tribute to Jimi Hendrix’, from 2004
