AT 26, MARQUISE GIVES THE SENSE THAT
THIS IS WHAT THOSE MASTERS MUST HAVE
SOUNDED LIKE AS YOUNG MEN. HIS
BLUES ARE SO TRANSPARENT AND BARE

Back to Blues Heaven here...

Marquise Knox was born 1991 in Granada and comes from a musical family deeply rooted in blues music, and to Marquise, blues is his whole heritage and life style. He learned to play the guitar by his granny, Lillie. He also played with his uncle, Clifford, who had a great influence on Marquise’s young life. He spent his early teenage years with the great blues legend and Grammy award winner, Henry James Townsend. Marquise’s talent has meant that he has already played with B.B. King, Pinetop Perkins, and David ‘honeyboy’ Edwards. He has also been to hundreds of festivals in the USA, and has toured all of Europe.
Knox’ debut album ‘Manchild’ was nominated for a Blues Music Award for Best New Artist Debut. The album was recorded when he was 16, together with the famous guitarist, Michael Burks and his band.
When you listen to young Marquise, you get a clear idea of how the great masters sounded when they were at the beginning of their careers. Marquise’s blues is so genuine and transparent that you have to give in and believe in reincarnation, for he is definitely a young man in an old man’s soul.
On this tour he brings along the singer and songwriter, Kat Riggins (born 1980) from Florida. She is a bluesy performer with a Rockstar attitude.. Kat has released a couple of albums in her own name, and has toured Europe quite a few times.
Marquise has never been to Scandinavia, so this is a great chance to see him on Friday Nov. 3rd
